Blackout window film is an opaque black film that stops all light passing through the glass. Unlike tint or frosted film, nothing shows through in either direction, day or night. It is the quickest way to black out a window without curtains, boards or blinds.
The film is sold per metre and cut to your glass size. It is applied to the inside of the glass with a slip solution and squeezed flat, the same way as frosted and reflective film. It can be used on a whole pane or on part of a window where you want to hide a view, a store room or cabling.
In Nairobi it is used in server rooms and data cabinets, home cinemas, photography studios, shift workers’ bedrooms, nightclub and bar windows, hospital imaging rooms, store rooms behind shopfronts and office glass where a display or equipment should not be seen from the corridor.
Delivery within Nairobi is same or next day and cut lengths are couriered to other towns with instructions. Installation across Nairobi is quoted on WhatsApp from a photo and the glass size. New film may look hazy for 7 to 10 days while it cures.
Questions people ask
Does it block heat too?
It blocks the light that carries heat, but it is not a solar tint. The glass itself still warms.
Can it be removed?
Yes. Warm it and peel. The glass is cleaned afterwards.
Is it one way?
No. It is fully opaque from both sides. For a mirror finish choose one way reflective film.
