Which vinyl floor do I need?

LVT dry back: offices, shops, clinics and schools. It is glued to a smooth screed and handles heavy traffic.
Peel and stick: rentals and quick refreshes. Self adhesive floor tiles go down over a clean, flat surface with no glue pot.
Mkeka wa mbao: the lowest cost roll for a bare cement room.

Picture a landlord in South B with three bedsitters to refresh between tenants. Peel and stick planks go straight onto the smooth old floor and the next tenant moves into a clean, quiet room.

Vinyl flooring questions

What does LVT mean?

LVT stands for luxury vinyl tile. Dry back LVT is the glue down version made for commercial floors.

Is vinyl flooring in Kenya waterproof?

The vinyl surface does not mind water. Glued joints can lift if water stands on them, so wipe spills and avoid flooding the floor.

Can peel and stick go over tiles?

Yes, if the tiles are flat and clean. Fill deep grout lines first or they will show through.

Are vinyl floor tiles the same as PVC flooring?

Yes. Most vinyl floors are made from PVC, so shops in Kenya use both names.

Vinyl or SPC?

Vinyl is softer and quieter. SPC is more rigid and fully waterproof. See SPC vs vinyl vs laminate flooring.
