LVT stands for luxury vinyl tile. Dry back means each plank or tile is glued directly to a smooth, level floor, giving a flat finish with almost no visible seams. It is the vinyl floor you see in salons, showrooms, clinics and open plan offices across Nairobi.
The planks are thin, fully waterproof and rated for commercial foot traffic. Wood looks come in light oak, walnut and grey tones and a parquet layout is available for reception areas. Because the planks are glued, heavy furniture and rolling chairs do not shift them, which is the main advantage over loose lay options.
LVT suits offices, retail shops, hair and beauty salons, dental and medical rooms, gyms in cardio zones and homes that want a slimmer floor than SPC. The subfloor must be smooth. Old tiles are levelled and any missing grout is filled first.
Installation is quoted after a free site survey and most rooms are laid in a day. Delivery within Nairobi is same or next day and boxes are couriered to other towns in Kenya. Samples can be seen at Summit House, Moi Avenue.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between LVT and mkeka wa mbao?
Mkeka wa mbao is a cushioned roll. LVT is individual planks, so it looks more like real wood and resists dents better.
Can LVT go over tiles?
Yes if the tiles are level and firmly fixed. Grout lines are filled before gluing.
Is it waterproof?
Yes. The planks are PVC and do not absorb water.
