How to measure for an anti slip mat

Most of our anti slip mats are sold per metre of length. So the length you walk is what you pay for.

1. Measure the length of the wet area in metres.
2. Measure the width. The PVC S mat comes 1.2 metres wide.
3. If your area is wider than one roll, lay two runs side by side.
4. Round up to the next half metre so the mat reaches every edge.

For matatus and buses the coin mat at KSh 1,299 per metre is the usual pick. Take a matatu aisle of 3 metres. 3 x KSh 1,299 = KSh 3,897.

Bare feet or shoes? Pick the right mat

The biggest mistake is buying one mat for every job.

• Bare feet and water: showers, pool decks and changing rooms. The PVC S mat lets water drain through and stays comfortable on skin.

Cleaning and care

Wet mats need a little attention or they go slimy.

• Lift the S mat once a week. Rinse both sides with a hose and mild soap.
• Let it dry in the open air before you lay it back.
• Scrub the floor under it too. Slime often grows on the floor, not the mat.
• Sweep rubber mats daily in dusty months. Mop with plain water.
• Avoid strong bleach and oil based cleaners. They can leave a slippery film.
• In the dry months, shake coin mats outside so dust does not pack into the pattern.
• Check the edges every month. Trim any curl so nobody trips.

What to check on delivery

• The length matches your order. Roll it out and measure.
• The colour is what you picked.
• There are no cracks or torn edges.
• Cut pieces are square at the ends.
