Fluted Panel Sizes and Installation
How many fluted panels does a TV wall actually need?
Most TV walls in Nairobi take 10 to 14 panels. Here are the standard sizes, how to count them and the way the panels are fixed so the lines stay straight and the TV bracket holds.

Working out the number
Measure the wall width in centimetres and divide by 16. Round up and add one for cuts. Panels are 2.9m long, so a standard 2.7m ceiling needs no joins. For higher walls, stagger the joins behind the TV.
How they are fixed
- Mark the wall level and snap a chalk line for the first panel.
- Apply construction adhesive in a zigzag on the back.
- Press the panel on and screw through the groove into the wall every 40cm. The next panel hides the screws.
- Cut panels with a fine tooth saw. Finish the edges with matching trim.
The TV bracket
Fix a timber batten or plywood behind the panels where the TV goes, or fix the bracket through the panels into the wall with long anchors. Never rely on the panels alone.
Common mistakes
- Starting from a corner that is not plumb
- Running cables after the panels are up
- Using panels in a shower cubicle
Panel counts and costs for common walls
Each panel is about 16cm wide and 2.9m long, at KSh 1,499. Divide the wall width by 0.16 and round up.

Fitting is quoted on WhatsApp. If the wall has a window or door, send a photo so we can take off the right number.
Ask for a little extra if your wall has many sockets or a window. Cutting around openings creates offcuts that may not be usable. One or two spare panels also cover a mistake on fitting day.
Get the wall ready before fitting day
- Check it is dry. Damp walls push adhesive off. Sort any damp first.
- Check it is straight. Run a long level across. Big bumps need sanding or filling.
- Mark sockets and switches. Panels get cut around them. Decide now if any should move.
- Plan cables. TV and sound cables should run in a pipe behind the panels before they go up.
- Take off old skirting if the panels will sit on the floor.
- Clear the room. Leave space of about 3 metres in front of the wall to cut and lift panels.
A wall that is badly out of line may need a frame of battens first so the panels sit straight. That is a judgement for the fitter on the day, so send a photo of the wall with a level held against it.
Agree the TV height before fitting day. The bracket needs solid fixing into the wall behind the panel, so mark that spot in advance.
When the ceiling is lower than the panel
Panels are about 2.9 metres long. Many flats in Nairobi have lower ceilings than that, so panels get cut to height.
- Measure the height at both ends of the wall. Floors and ceilings are rarely level.
- Cut each panel to fit its own spot, not all to one length.
- Keep the offcuts. They make shelves, a desk front or a short wainscot in another room.
- For a gap at the top, a slim trim looks neater than forcing a tight fit.

Fit panels from one side of the wall to the other in order. Keep checking with the level every few panels. A small lean at the start grows into a visible slope by the far end of a 4 metre wall.
Checks when the panels arrive
- Count the panels and match the colour to your order.
- Lay a few side by side to check the colour is even.
- Check the edges and grooves for dents or chips.
- Store them flat indoors, out of the sun, until fitting.

Bring the panels into the room a day before fitting. Panels used at room temperature fit better and are less likely to leave gaps later.

Can I install fluted panels myself?
Yes with a level, a saw and adhesive. We also install across Nairobi.
Can fluted panels go in a bathroom?
Yes on dry walls. Keep them out of the shower area.
How much are they?
KSh 1,499 per panel. Prices last updated October 2026.
Should fluted panels run up and down or across?
Most people fit them up and down because it makes a room look taller. Across works on a long low wall, like behind a bed.
