How to stick acrylic mirrors
- Clean the wall. Wipe off dust and grease and let it dry.
- Plan the pattern. Lay the pieces on the floor first to plan the shape.
- Mark a guide line. Use a level and a pencil to draw a straight line.
- Stick the pieces. Peel the back, line up with the guide and press from the centre out.
- Remove the front film. Peel off the protective film and wipe with a soft dry cloth.
What you need before you start
Acrylic mirrors are light and easy to fit. The finish depends almost entirely on the wall and the layout, so get these ready first.
- Your mirror set. A hexagon set of 12 pieces costs KSh 1,999. A diamond pack costs KSh 2,999.
- A pencil and a tape measure
- A spirit level or a long straight edge
- A clean dry cloth and a mild cleaner to remove dust and grease
- Double sided mounting tape if your pieces have no adhesive on the back
- Masking tape to hold the layout plan on the wall
The wall must be smooth, clean and dry. Rough plaster, flaking paint and damp patches stop the adhesive from gripping. If the paint is new, give it time to cure fully before you stick anything to it.
Plan the layout on the floor first
This step takes ten minutes and saves you from crooked rows.
- Lay all the pieces face up on the floor in the shape you want.
- Take a photo with your phone so you can follow it on the wall.
- Measure the full width and height of the layout.
- Mark the centre point on the wall where the middle of the layout should sit. Above a bed or a console table, this is usually centred on the furniture.
- Draw a level guide line through that point with your spirit level.
Need more pieces for a bigger wall? Two hexagon sets give you 24 pieces for 2 x KSh 1,999 = KSh 3,998. Mixing a hexagon set with a diamond pack costs 1,999 + 2,999 = KSh 4,998. See more shapes on our mirror wall stickers page.
Sticking the pieces, one by one
- Clean the wall where the first piece goes. Let it dry.
- Start at the centre of your guide line and work outwards. This keeps the design balanced.
- Peel the backing off the adhesive only. Leave the front protective film on.
- Line up the edge with the pencil line. Touch it to the wall lightly first. You can still adjust it.
- Press firmly from the centre outwards for about 30 seconds. This pushes out air and bonds the adhesive.
- Repeat for each piece, keeping equal gaps. A coin or a small card works well as a spacer.
- Peel the front film off every piece only at the end, once all are on the wall.
Leave the wall alone for a day before you clean it, so the adhesive can settle.
Where acrylic mirrors work best
Acrylic is lighter and safer than glass. If a piece falls, it does not shatter. That makes it a good fit for kids’ rooms, hallways and rentals.
- Above a bed or sofa as a feature in place of a painting.
- Narrow entrances to make the space feel bigger and brighter.
- Salons and boutiques for a modern look at low cost.
- Next to a fluted panel wall. See fluted panel design ideas.
Keep them away from shower walls and steamy spots, where moisture weakens the adhesive. Acrylic also shows a slight ripple on uneven walls, so the flatter the wall, the clearer the reflection.

Can acrylic mirrors stick on rough walls?
They need a smooth surface. Rough walls bend the reflection.
Will they fall off?
On a clean, smooth wall they hold well. Avoid damp walls.
How do I remove them later?
Warm the glue with a hair dryer and peel slowly.
How do I clean them?
Use a soft dry cloth. Avoid rough sponges.
Can I stick acrylic mirrors on a painted wall?
Yes, as long as the paint is fully dry, firm and not flaking. Fresh paint should cure fully first or the adhesive may pull it off.
How many mirror sets do I need for a feature wall?
Lay the pieces on the floor in your design and measure it against the wall. One hexagon set of 12 pieces at KSh 1,999 suits a space above a bed or console.
Do acrylic mirrors distort the reflection?
They can show a slight ripple if the wall is uneven. A smooth, flat wall gives a much clearer reflection.
